After going through his own renting journey, Tom was introduced to a letting agent, a property manager, a referencing company, a pen and paper contract, another property manager and then finally a manual payment schedule. Maintenance was managed over email and SMS, updates were slow and often missed. And at the end of the stay, a bulk sent renewal letter landed with a price increase.
So he asked, why in the digital age was renting so far behind other industries. Surely the one where you spend the most money should be the one you get the most value from. If you order a pizza you get real-time updates but if you submit your details for referencing... what? Nothing? This can't be right.
